Mary Kittle, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Mary is a board-certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner  (PMHNP) and is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She’s a graduate of the University of Virginia and Stony Brook University where she earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing, respectively.

Prior to joining Mana Psychiatry and Wellness, LLC, Mary was a member of the Division of Psychiatry and Psychology at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters where she worked for 12 years as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with Dr. Peter Dozier, treating a wide range of patients with both psychiatric and co-occurring medical issues.  As part of the CHKD Psychiatry and Psychology program, Mary worked with Dr. Dozier training EVMS pediatric residents.   She also worked at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters for four years as a forensic nurse examiner for the Child Abuse Program.

Mary enjoys working with children who are struggling with ADHD, anxiety, and/or depression ranging in ages starting around 6 years old and continuing through adolescence and young adulthood. As part of her commitment to helping children, she also appreciates the role of parents and caregivers as well as the unique challenges of parenting in these times, and she works with families to nurture and improve these relationships.

She approaches treatment as a process in which we utilize successes and/or setbacks as opportunities for learning and emotional growth as ways to teach our children problem solving and decision-making skills.
